Nintendo of Europe have announced that on 29th October 2011, Video Game festival GameCity will be hosting a “Zelda Anniversary Takeoever Day” at Nottingham’s Old Market Square. One of the biggest draws will obviously be being able to play the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword before its 18th November release date, however, there are other attractions to hopefully please Zelda fans:
You will apparently be able to learn to play the ocarina and get a chance to join the Ocarina Orchestra and participate in renditions – taking part will earn you a Zelda branded Ocarina, make your own sword and shield (no, I highly doubt they will be real swords. That might break a few laws) and relax at the “LonLon Milk Bar”. Completing these activities will earn you pieces of the Triforce (I repeat, not the real Triforce. Because there is no real Triforce) and complete the “Hero’s Quest”.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to take part in the “Zelda Canon Speed Run”; GameCity are after 6 Zelda experts who can complete any game in the series with super speed. If selected, you’ll be part of a tag team attempting to complete 15 games in the series, starting with the beginning, up until Twilight Princess.
GameCity runs from 25th October. In the run up to the event, they are asking fans to contribute artwork, poetry, short stories or fond memories to a one-off fanzine that will be made available on the Saturday in a limited print run.
