The Nintendo 3DS has had a slow start; there’s no denying that. It had a high price-tag and very few games that weren’t ports or remakes. It was a dire situation for the company, so much so that they had to announce a drastic price cut not long after the handheld’s release. That move however, seems to have been worth it.
According to the NPD sales group, the 3DS has sold 1.65 million units so far. The Nintendo DS sold 2.37million in its first year – and Santa Claus has yet to come to town. We can also reveal that at least one major UK multimedia retailer has told their employees that they expect the console to be this Christmas’ gaming “Must Have”; Nintendo undoubtedly are in a similar time frame, releasing numerous bundles and new colours in time for the holiday season.
