Many of us remember Mewtwo as being a Pokémon so powerful that it could only be obtained after the main story of the original Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version (or Green, if you’re in Japan) after exploring a treacherous cave full of high-levelled Pokémon. We also remember it as being the antagonist of Pokémon the First Movie, the result of Team Rocket’s experiments in using Mew’s DNA to create the most powerful Pokémon. Come 12th February though, we will no longer have to risk our lives through dark terrain to capture one of Pokémon’s most iconic characters – no, all we’ll have to do is talk to a bloke in a green suit in a shop.
You heard me right – to celebrate the release of the Trading Card Game set “Next Destinies“, The Pokémon Company has revealed that the legendary Mewtwo will be available for download from 12th February, with some sources claiming that the official press release details that it will be released over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection; similar to an event Japanese players received late last year to promote their Hail Blizzard/Psycho Drive TCG expansion (the majority of cards from those two Japanese subsets makes up our English “Next Destinies”).
This Mewtwo will most likely be identical to the Japanese one, being at level 70 and know the attack “Electro Ball”, a move it cannot normally learn, as well as Shadow Ball, Aura Sphere and Psystrike.
