Early last year, it was announced that titles for SEGA’s past handheld, the GameGear, will be made available through the Nintendo 3DS’ Virtual Console service, then everything went silent for a while. However, during the Nintendo Direct stream the other day, Satoru Iwata announced that the first GameGear titles to be made available on the Virtual Console – Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, The G.G. Shinobi and Dragon Crystal will be released in Japan on 14th March, with a European release in the same month.
andriasang has posted up some screenshots from SEGA which show us what GameGear games will look like when emulated on the Nintendo 3DS:
As you can probably notice, the touch screen is different than what we are used to with Virtual Console games. According to andriasang, the option that is selected is to change the colour of the Game Gear system frame (the available colours are black, blue, yellow and red). Some of the other options are “Screen Mode”, “Ghosting/After Image” and “Performance”.
Are you looking forward to these Game Gear titles? And what other GameGear titles would you like to see on the Virtual Console?
