About a month ago I asked you this question; ‘What would you like to see from Nintendo at this year’s E3?’ We had plenty of answers from our fans but as usual, I’ll voice what I’d like to see first.
What I want:
While I said you can be as unrealistic as you want, a lot of you still went for realistic answers. So I thought I’d try the same. First and foremost, Wii U games. It’s been one year already, and yet we only know about 20 games that seem to be coming to the system and of those 20 we know little about. What’s even worse that some of the games have no information to them whatsoever, like the apparent Mario game being made. So firstly, I’d like to see what games are on offer and mainly the first party offerings. Secondly, Pikmin 3. Details about the game, when is it coming out, how does it play, is there online etc. I want videos and screens and developers praising Miyamoto’s work for (potentially) his last big project. Lastly, I want to find out what Nintendo Network is and how it rivals Xbox Live and the PSN. Nintendo have had 6 years to pick apart the best bits as well as help from EA and other companies to get the best of it. Will it be free? What can it do better the other and just general information about it. I don’t think I’m asking much with this list, and I think they all have a chance of being answered at E3.
What you want:
David Parkinson: Well, I wouldn’t mind seeing some iteration of F-Zero, but seeing as that’s unlikely to happen, I wouldn’t mind finding out more about the new 3D Zelda game.
I think this is in the realm of possibility, F-Zero has been away from some time now as it skipped the Wii generation, we could maybe see it on the Wii U to show off the 1080p, HD, 32 player online capabilities…right? And yes, I’m as excited about the 3D Zelda game as the next guy, although I think we will be waiting a bit longer for some information about it!
Luneth Calibur: I wonder if there will be a Resident Evil game for the Wii U?
Capcom and Nintendo have had a rather good relationship this generation (with the absence of Resident Evil 5) but I’ve no doubts that Resident Evil 6 will be coming to the Wii U. Will we be getting an exclusive Resident game akin to Revelations for the Wii U? I’m not too sure, but it could happen.
Matthew Crethar (Newest member of the WiiUAndMii team): Metroid Prime 4 would be amazing! But Star Wars: Battlefront 3 definitely takes the cake for me, been waiting 7 years!
As much as I would love a Metroid Prime 4, I’m not sure I’d want Retro to do it as I think it would be a wasted opportunity for the Wii U, but at the same time I wouldn’t want Metroid Prime 4 to be done by anyone else. Such is a difficult decision, but I don’t see Prime 4 making an appearance at E3 2012.
Cathal Noir Mouton: I’d love a new Eternal Darkness game on the Wii U!
I can’t really say much about this, seeing as I have never played Eternal Darkness or know a lot about it, but what I do know is that there have been recent grumblings of an Eternal Darkness game being worked on for the Wii U. Based on nothing but rumours, I’d rate seeing this at E3 a 3/10.
Josh A Stevens (WiiUAndMii Journalist): A HD Wii U Zelda game with an art style similar to Twilight Princess (that features the return of Midna)
While I think we will hear some sort of Zelda news this year, I don’t think it will be anything major. A HD Zelda game is a want of mine, but re-using an art style is not (except for Majora’s Mask). And really Josh, Midna? I’m ashamed to say I work with you (only joking xD)
Alvin Fowler: Some more info/gameplay on Smash Bros 3DS.
If there was another space on my list, this would be included. Every Smash Bros. game means a great deal to me so obviously the announcement last year about Smash Bros. not only appearing on Wii U but 3DS was big for me. While I’d rather hear more information on the Wii U version, I think the possibility of getting some about SSBB4 is quite high. Kid Icarus is out and Sakurai is now set on creating the game, I think we will hear ideas about the game at least!
Demelza Ward (WiiUAndMii Journalist): Won’t happen and never will announcement wise at E3 but, Pokémon Grey for DS or a new Pokémon Battler to replace PBR for the Wii U.
Since the writing of this article and the submission of the idea, Pokémon Black and White 2 have been announced, so whether that clears you Grey want, I’m not too sure. But if you think we will hear information about those games at this year’s E3, then I’m with you there 100%.
Martyn Davey: A Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh * fingers crossed* game.
Just in the post above, I’m assuming that Pokémon Black and White 2 cover your Pokémon game want, but I doubt we will see news of a Yu-Gi-Oh game at E3, seems to be too small of a game to be announced there, but you never know!
Lee Cedrick Hatchman: A NEW Star Fox game for the Wii U. One that uses the controllers screen to find enemies like a radar, where controlling your Arwing is smooth and where Slippy isn’t a twit and gets killed every 5 seconds. That and a Minecraft game, so it could be official DLC one or a very similar one that just allows me to create 8-bit Kirby’s everywhere. I WOULD LOVE THIS. But I’ll have to see if pigs fly.
Well Pigma can fly…so don’t doubt your Star Fox game too much. I think the Wii U is a perfect console to revive the Star Fox franchise too, as you can see here! Unfortunately, I think Minecraft is exclusive to the Xbox 360 for consoles, so I don’t think that will be announced.
Thanks to everyone who put down their thoughts, I love reading what you want and like about Nintendo, plus it helps me to get to know the WiiUAndMii fans better! Another ‘We Ask’ will be put up before E3, so make sure you get involved there too!
