Mario Tennis Open was quietly announced a few months ago, with a rather speedy release date of 25th May in Europe. However, with only just over a month until the latest entry into Nintendo’s Mario Tennis is released, we finally have some new information.
In the game, in case you’re getting bored of Nintendo characters (how very dare you!) you will be able to go on the court as your own personal Mii (which can be kitted out in costumes based on various Nintendo characters). StreetPass is also confirmed – meaning that matches will be done as you walk past someone in the street; the winner earning coins that can be spent on the aforementioned costumes.
More interestingly, is what is being called the “Special Games” feature. One of said “Special Games” includes having a practice round, but instead of hitting a wall, the original Super Mario Bros. plays in the background, with you having to hit enemies and coin boxes with the tennis ball.
