Japan’s Nintendo Direct feature was shown to internet denizens worldwide earlier today and as usual, it contained a number of surprising announcements! It is currently unknown what new details the European Nintendo Direct will have or if any of this will be repeated, but if anything new is revealed there, it will be added here.
Anyways, first in the list of announcements is New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS. It will be released in Japan and America this August and will be featuring the Tanooki Suit that was recently reintroduced in Super Mario 3D Land.
Now, the article’s title mentions Pokémon, so obviously there were Pokémon related announcements – in the form of two 3DSWare applications. First we have Pokédex 3D Pro. As you can probably guess, this expansion not only features the new Unova Pokémon, but the older Pokémon as well (including the new formes from Pokémon Black Version 2 and White Version 2). Unlike the old Pokédex 3D though, this won’t be free – costing 1500 yen (about £11.40). The original Pokédex 3D will also be removed from the Japanese eShop eShop on 17th June. Pokédex 3D Pro will be available in Japan from 14th June.
Next up, we have Pokémon AR Searcher. This 3DSWare app, due out on 23rd June (the same day as Black 2 and White 2) for 300yen will have Pokémon placed into real world environments through the 3DS’ Augmented Reality features. Pokémon obtained through this app can also be transferred to Black 2 and White 2. According to the official Japanese website, rare Pokémon can be obtained through this method.
Lastly, we have information about an upcoming 3DS system update. This update, which will be coming to American systems on 25th April will allow users to sort their 3DS homescreen into “Folders”, which can hold up to 60 apps and be given custom names. Lastly, the update will also give developers the ability to patch games – games confirmed to be receiving a patch are Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (possibly due to the game-breaking glitch) and Mario Kart 7 (Wuhu Island Loop glitch fix?). While there is no date currently known for other reasons, it’s highly likely that this will be making its way to other regions soon.
