I can’t be the only one who has to count the number of “V”s in “VVVVVV” as a I type can I?
Anytway, as yesterday was a bank holiday, Official Nintendo Magazine have announced this week’s European Nintendo downloads today. First up, five months after its release in America, we have Nicallis’ “VVVVVV” which will cost £7.20. Originally released for the Mac and PC in 2010, the game has you helping Captain Viridian find his five crew members and save a dimension by flipping gravity to move between levels. While the game looks like it probably should have been around 20 years ago, it has garnered quite a lot of positive reception.
Next up, we delve into the Virtual Console with a new GameGear title for the 3DS’ eShop: “Sonic’s Labyrinth” (£4.50). Unlike most Sonic games of that time, it isn’t a 2D platformer – it’s a strategy game with Sonic going around grids and collecting keys.
For the DSi Shop (or 3DS eShop) we have “Curling Super Championship”. Raise your hands if you want to play curling!………..anyways, it’s 500 DSi Points (or £4.50) if you do.
The Wii Shop Channel sees two solid releases from SEGA – “Wonder Boy in Monster Land” (900 points) is an arcade action platformer from 1987. This sequel to Wonder Boy sees Wonder Boy (previously known as Tom-Tom) trying to defeat the MEKA dragon and the other monsters that have taken over his land. And finally, we have “Monster World IV” (900 points), the last game in the Wonder Boy/Monster World series. This Mega Drive platformer was never released outside of Japan before, so now is your chance to play it.
