Since it was confirmed that Namco Bandai will be helping to develop the upcoming 3DS and Wii U instalments in Nintendo’s famous “Super Smash Bros.” fighting game crossover series, there has been much speculation about whether any Namco Bandai characters will appear within the game, considering the inclusion of Sonic the Hedgehog and Solid Snake in the Wii’s “Super Smash Bros. Brawl”.
Characters from “Tekken” were recently ruled out, but a challenger has appeared! Makoto Yoshizumi, the producer of the “Tales Of” series of video games has stated that he would love a “Tales Of” character to appear in the new game. However, he did admit that the character roster is entirely up to director Masahiro Sakurai. Interestingly, he has also said that only characters that have appeared on a Nintendo game can appear (makes sense).
Personally, I would like to see Anise from “Tales of the Abyss” make an appearance. I feel that she could have an interesting battling mechanic using her doll Tokunaga. However, if we are to get any characters from Tales of the Abyss, I imagine we’ll probably only receive main protagonists, like Luke from Tales of the Abyss. There have been a fair few “Tales of” games released for Nintendo consoles over the years though (like Abyss, Phantasia, Symphonia and the Japanese only Innocence, Hearts and Graces), so it could be anyone’s guess.
Would you like a “Tales of” character to appear in the new Smash Bros and if so, if you could only pick one, who would your choice be? It might make an interesting feature to put on the website!
