Earlier this week, we reported that Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS has sold out in Japan – yes, it’s selling that much. So it was obvious that the game’s release would have an impact on sales of the Nintendo 3DS console itself. According to Neogaf, the new game topped the all format game’s chart (a Nintendo game doing that in Europe is seldom seem). Also, like most recent weeks, the 3DS was top of the hardware chart. Sony’s PlayStation Vita has never really performed too well in the chart compared to its competition, but this week the Nintendo 3DS sold a staggering 46 units for every 1 Vita sold, as well as 10 consoles per PlayStation 3 sold.
The PlayStation 3 is storming ahead of the Wii though. It is worth noting that the Wii U launches in Japan on 8th December though, so the Wii is on its way out, while the PS3 is still a current console.
