Yesterday was a big day for Pokémon fans, with Satoru Iwata announcing during a global “Pokémon Direct” segment that the main series of the franchise will finally be arriving on the Nintendo 3DS with Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, which will be launching worldwide this October (a first for the franchise). Yesterday we were shown a brief introduction trailer, which introduced us to the starter Pokémon Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, as well as showing off two (then) unnamed legendary Pokémon. However, the official Pokémon website has now revealed their names:
Xerneas (pronounced Zurr-nee-us) is most likely the version mascot of Pokémon X.
And finally, we have Yveltal (pronounced ee-VELL-tall), who will most likely be the version mascot of Pokémon Y.C
Thanks to Serebii for the pronunciations.
Are you excited about the new games? Which of the new legendary Pokémon do you prefer?
