After receiving a lot of hype last year, Level-5 and Capcom’s crossover 3DS game was released in Japan last November. Since then, there has been no word of an international release, so it was no surprise that Akihiro Hino, the CEO of Level-5, was asked about it at the recent Japan Expo. His answer was:
Something’s in the works, but I can’t talk about it today. Please be patient.
The game, featuring Level-5’s world famous archaeologist/puzzle extraordinar Professior Hershel Layton and Capcom’s well er…Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright, sees the two (and their assistants) transported to “Labyrinth City”, a town that is seemingly home to witches, as well as the Story Teller, a mysterious person with the power to make whatever he writes reality. The two sides have to team up to defend Mahoney, a young girl accused of being a witch, as well as uncover the mystery behind the story teller.
The latest game in the Ace Attorney series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies is scheduled to be released digitally in North America and Europe this Autumn, while Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, the final Professor Layton title starring the good professor himself, is due out in Europe later this year, with an American release scheduled for early 2014.
