The prospect of cross-play between Wii U, 3DS and more – ala PS3, PS4 and PS Vita – is one that excites many. Now, Nintendo’s response when questioned about the game Pure Chess (which supports cross-play on PS3 and PS Vita) on Wii U may give us more hope that this could happen!
A Nintendo representative confirmed with VG247: “We can confirm that cross-platform functionality is possible in certain titles that play on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, as well as other video game systems not made by Nintendo. We are committed to helping developers realise the full potential of their software on Nintendo systems,”.
He then added: “We can confirm that Disney Infinity from Disney Interactive Studios, Cubeman 2 from Three Sprockets and Pure Chess from Ripstone, all have the ability to play on Nintendo systems while at the same time communicating with consumers using those same games on other systems. Additional games using this functionality are in development.”
If Sony agrees, players of the Wii U version of Pure Chess will be able to play with those who own the game on other platforms! Are you excited at the prospect of cross-play for Nintendo systems?
