Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS got its first trailer this year at E3 2013, and at that time we were told that it would launch in 2014. To many, that meant late 2014 or possibly 2015 including delays; however, it now seems as though we could be getting it a lot earlier!
Bernd Fakesh, the General Manager of Nintendo Germany, seems to have let this slip while talking to Neckar-Chronik (source: NeoGAF). In the interview, Fakesch said that (roughly translated from German): “For next spring two more big license games are also announced for our TV console with Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.”. Note that this is only in reference to the Wii U version of the game, and doesn’t mention what regions the game might launch in at that time.
If this is true, that means that Nintendo will have the combination of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in Spring to help encourage Wii U sales. With Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze confirmed for February, and several other big games coming in 2014 at currently unknown times (Bayonetta 2, for example), early 2014 is shaping up well for the Wii U!
Do you think this could be true? Could we be getting the next Super Smash Bros game as early as Spring next year?
