It’s been quite a busy few weeks for Square Enix’s Bravely Default – first there was the announcement of Bravely Second, then the Japanese release of Bravely Default: For the Sequel and then the highly anticipated European release of Bravely Default. However, the hype train is nowhere near its final stop – in fact, it’s full steam ahead. Series producer Tomoya Asano and character designer Akihiko Yoshida sat down with the Japanese Famitsu Magazine and answered some questions about the recently revealed sequel game.
Bravely Second brings us back to the world of Luxendarc a few years after the events of Bravely Default, giving the country bigger fields than in the first game. The previously revealed new character, Magnolia Arch, the self-proclaimed Demon Killer from the moon is our new protagonist who will play a role similar to Agnés Oblige in the first instalment – in fact, at some point in the game, the two will travel together and the trailer at the end of Bravely Default reveals that at some point, she rescues Tiz Arrior. The game’s story will revolve around a Demon King and the moon, as well as the promise of being able to explore Magnolia’s world. According to character designer Yoshida, an early idea was for Magnolia to wear a space-orientated outfit and bunny ears, but they decided to go with a character who looked for adult-like, which was something the original game lacked.
Yoshida believes that due to the experience of making the first game, Bravely Second will be a much more polished and refined experience, although as Asano stated that the game is currently only around 30% completed, it might be some time before we can play it. Currently, the team is working on character designs and job classes (some of which have been promised to be unexpected).
Are you looking forward to Bravely Second?
