When Producer Kenichiro Takaki took one look at the Nintendo 3DS console, it was only a matter of seconds when the idea for a game popped into his head – in less than a minute he had come to the conclusion that the one thing people will want to see in 3D is of course, breasts. A year and a half later, Senran Kagura: Skirting Shadows was released in Japan and as a side-scrolling action game featuring clothes that rip off the more damaged a character gets.
Last November, XSEED Games localised and released Senran Kagura Burst, an enhanced version that contains both the original game and an all new story in North America exclusively via the Nintendo eShop digital service. A European release was announced around the same time, with the added bonus that players on the continent will be allowed to get a bit physical and slowly run their fingers across a cartridge as carefully insert it into the 3DS’ game card slot.
Zen United and pQube, who are distributing the game in Europe announced today that Senran Kagura Burst will be released in Europe on the Nintendo eShop on 27th February 2014, followed by a physical release on 28th February. We were also introduced to this rather provocative piece of box-art:
Since its release, the Senran Kagura franchise has spawned multiple sequel games (some of which were only announced last week), manga series’ and even a TV anime. Seven Seas Entertainment are currently releasing the Senran Kagura: Skirting Shadows manga while the anime is licensed in North America by FUNimation Entertainment.
Will you be buying Senran Kagura? And if so, will you be bold and get the physical edition, or will you play it as an eShop download?
