The Nintendo 3DS has a vast variety of different video game genres already – with strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem: Awakening, casual games like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, platformers like Mario and the likes of Street Fighter (no prize for whoever guesses what genre that is in). What it didn’t have though, is a first person shooter…until now.
Renegade Kid, the creators of critically acclaimed Mutant Mudds announced today via IGN that they will be releasing Moon Chronicles this Spring. A remake of their 2009 Nintendo DS game Moon. This remake will be released in an episodic format on the Nintendo eShop and will be broken off into “Seasons”. The first confirmed season will be a remake of the original DS game, while the plan is to hopefully release a second original season next year.
The first season will be broken up until four “episodes”, each of which containing four “chapters”. The first part, containing chapters 1-6 as well as 6 VR missions will cost $8.99 (EU/UK prices unknown), while additional episodes will be available as DLC for $1.99 each. The first episode will contain four hours of gameplay, whereas subsequent releases will add an additional two.
The game is being rebuilt from the ground up, boasting Circle Pad Pro support as well as the ability to run at 60 frames-per-second in both 3D and 2D. If you would like to use your Nintendo 3DS to see some screenshots of the game in 3D, then you can scan this QR code using your system:
