With Facebook’s Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus on the horizon, it’s clear that the realm of virtual reality gaming is set to become a future battleground of the video game industry and there is understandably, a lot of hype surrounding the technology – even Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto was caught checking out Virtual Reality hardware at this year’s E3.
There are of course, many reasons why people would be interested in the potentials of virtual reality and considering that Senran Kagura‘s producer Kenichiro Takaki stated that his desire to make the game first came from wanting to see boobs on the 3DS’ 3D screen, it’s no surprise that he has at least mentioned the possibility a Virtual Reality Senran Kagura in passing.
However, in the build up to the release of Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson‘s release on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan next month, Kenichiro Takaki and some of this employees have decided to take things a bit further by releasing a trailer parodying the recent Virtual Reality arms race, but “announcing” the fictional Headmount π-Play (with the pi being short for “oppai”, meaning “boobs”), a virtual reality headset shaped like a pair of breasts that can supposedly read and respond to your desires.
The trailer then ends with a disclaimer about the product still being in development and suggesting that in the mean time, people should check out Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson.
