Trainers will be able to embark on a brand new journey in the Pokémon world this autumn, following today’s announcement of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, which will be available worldwide on the Nintendo 3DS in Late 2016. The games will expand on the seven languages offered in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y with the addition of Traditional and Simplified Chinese options.
No footage of the games were shown, although The Pokémon Company President Tsunekaz Ishihara confirmed that Pokémon caught in the Virtual Console re-releases of Red, Blue and Yellow can be transferred to Sun/Moon via the Pokémon Bank application.
Originally leaked via a trademark registration yesterday, Ishihara formally revealed the games during a highly anticipated Pokémon Direct digital presentation this afternoon. The announcement came following months of speculation, during which The Pokémon Company initially teased fans into believing a retooled version of X/Y was on the cards by unveiling new Zygarde formes and even a whole new species.
