After breaking records at the Japanese box office and being the first Japanese anime to be in competition at the prestigious BFI London Film Awards, Makoto Shinkai’s heartfelt youth fantasy Your Name (Kimi no Na wa.) is heading to cinemas across the United Kingdom for one night only next month – 24th November 2016.
Anime Limited, the film’s distributor, describes the film as follows:
Mitsuha and Taki are total strangers living completely different lives. But when Mitsuha makes a wish to leave her mountain town for the bustling city of Tokyo, they become connected in a bizarre way. She dreams she is a boy living in Tokyo while Taki dreams he is a girl from a rural town he’s never visited.
What does their newfound connection mean? And how will it bring them together? Find out in the latest film from the acclaimed auteur Makoto Shinkai.
Proclaimed by some as being the next Hayao Miyazaki, Makoto Shinkai has garnered critical acclaim for both his previous feature and short films works, which include Mainichi Film Award winner The Place Promised In Our Early Days and Voices of a Distant Star, which will be re-released in a DVD/Blu-ray double pack by Anime Limited on 21st November 2016.
