This evening, Glasgow-based distributor Anime Limited announced a partnership with anime streaming service Crunchyroll, to stream Dragon Dentist, a two-part animation from Studio Khara (Rebuild of Evangelion) in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Based on a Japan Animator Expo short film, Dragon Dentist takes place in Dragon Country, where Nonoko serves as a newly appointed dentist, protecting the country’s guardian, a dragon, from cavities.
One day, amid increasingly fierce battles against the neighboring country, she finds an unconscious boy soldier from the enemy country on the dragon’s tooth. His name is Bell, and he has been “resurrected” from within the tooth by the dragon, a supernatural phenomenon that legend says occurs before a major disaster.
Bell is confused about his situation. Nonoko cheers him up and takes him on as a dragon dentist. Suddenly the two face an unexpected and tremendous explosion that gives rise to countless tooth decaying bacteria. As they face a series of fierce battles, Nonoko and Bell eventually learn to accept their fate. This fantasy adventure, created on an epic scale like never before, will keep viewers thrilled and enamoured!
The first part of Dragon Dentist will be available on the Crunchyroll service from 21:45 GMT on Saturday 18th February. Anime Limited also expect to release Dragon Dentist theatrically and on home video in the future.
Recently, Studio Khara were revealed to be animating the cut scenes for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, which is due out on Nintendo 3DS on 19 May 2017.
