The Nintendo Switch has been out for a few days now and while we’re all happily playing with our new system, Nintendo have been busy looking over the sales.
A PR email was sent out today that reveals the Nintendo Switch has sold more than any other Nintendo hardware in its launch weekend for Europe. Alongside great sales for the console, it has been revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe.
However, it’s not just Europe where the console has done well. In America the system has claimed the title of best selling hardware launch for Nintendo, the next biggest being the Wii. Breath of the Wild also continues on its track to worldwide success by claiming title of best-selling standalone launch game.
While it doesn’t seem that the Switch has broken any records in Japan, the sales have still gotten off to a strong start. During the first 48 hours on sale the Switch sold 313,000 units. Sales figures for Breath of the Wild have yet to be revealed for the region, but as Legend of Zelda usually doesn’t sell as well in Japan when compared to the west it’s unlikely to have broken any records for the region either.
