Released in Japan last February, the Nintendo 3DS eShop exclusive Great Detective Pikachu has been a talking point of late, due to the news that Legendary Pictures will be adapting it for the big screen with Deadpool‘s Ryan Reynolds in the title role! Despite this buzz however, things have remained quiet on the subject of the actual game both internationally and in Japan, where players were teased with hints of a continuation. Until today, of course (or I wouldn’t be writing this).
The European video game rating board PEGI today updated with a rating for Detective Pikachu on Nintendo 3DS, with a PEGI 3 rating for “Very mild violence in a pixelated context”.
(NOTE: Third-party trailers may have ads)
PEGI lists the game with a release date of 31st December 2020, which is likely just a placeholder. It seems likely that Nintendo may want to tie the game’s release into that of the movie, which is currently unspecified – but filming does begin in January 2018, so 2019/2020 does seem realistic. We’ll of course, bring you the latest as we hear it.
