The Persona series gathered a lot of mindshare in 2016 with the Western release of Persona 5, which won over many gamers and became a Game of the Year contender (it won multiple other awards from us!). Now, publisher Atlus is asking where you’d like Persona to go next – literally.
A recently released survey asks many questions about Persona and other Atlus franchises. For the former series, it asks whether a Persona 6 would be preferred over any spin-off genres (including a board game, bizarrely). Intriguingly, your platform(s) of choice are also queried. Listed are PlayStation 4, PS Vita, PS VR, Switch, 3DS, PC, Smartphones, and other. Yes, Atlus is asking whether you’d like Persona on Switch (er, yes, please).
One of the closing questions of the survey asks about those platforms again. The question is raised of which you would like to see future Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Etrian Odyssey games on. You get the sense that Atlus is at least eyeing up the Nintendo Switch as a possibility. Persona 5 is exclusive to PlayStation, limiting the options there, but there isn’t necessarily anything stopping future Persona titles coming to Switch. Also, going back to that list of platforms – what would Persona look like in VR? With that art style, it could be funky stuff.
In addition, the other questions are interesting. One asks what kind of project you would like Atlus to make. The options include a new IP, a new game in one of their franchises, a spin-off to one of those franchises, a port of an older game to a new system, content other than games, or a collaboration with another company. Also, you may even choose your dream Atlus studio to develop the project!
You can get to the full survey here, though it is all in Japanese and has been running into connection issues.
