Just in case you’re wondering if the previously announced Detective Pikachu live-action movie was just a weird fever dream… nope, it’s actually happening – and we have the set photos to prove it!
Filming recently started in London and people have already started to channel their inner sleuths, as prop and set photos have started to emerge.
Photos shared by HowardBud show signage for the film’s fictional Ryme City and missing persons posters potentially revealing how Pokémon may look in the final film.

A report for Digital Spy includes an insight into how this ambitious film will be made, with stand-ins in blue full-body Lycra suits carrying cardboard cut-outs of what species they’re presumably standing in for. Below is a sample of the images, which are viewable in the linked article above:
Starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular sleuth, Detective Pikachu is slated to open on 10th May 2019. The cast also includes Ken Watanabe (Godzilla), Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies). Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing, with a script by Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy).
