Bill Nighy, star of Love Actually, Shaun of the Dead and more is the latest star-studded name to join the growing cast of perhaps the most eyebrow raising blockbuster of recent times, Legendary Pictures’ live-action Detective Pikachu.
Along with Chris Greere (You’re the Worst), Bill Nighy is the most recent official addition to the cast of the film, as written by The Hollywood Reporter. This addition comes after the recent announcement of Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) – and, of course, the announcement in 2017 that Ryan Reynolds would be playing the lead role of Detective Pikachu himself.
Justice Smith (The Get Down) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) are also included in the cast that will be under the direction of Rob Letterman (Goosebumps). In the film, the character played by Justice Smith is trying to rescue his kidnapped father. For help, he teams up with Detective Pikachu.
Detective Pikachu is from the production company Legendary, and releases on 10th May 2019. Just yesterday, we reported on new images of the film in production, and it is as bizarre as you would expect.
