Look, don’t panic, but we may have a sign that the upcoming Switch Pokémon title is being planned for release this year.
A certain job listing has popped up on the website of The Pokémon Company in the brilliantly-named “Pokémon Careers” section. Based in London, UK, the listing is for localising an upcoming title for Spanish. The position will include working “… on all editorial facets of video games, and related materials (video game strategy guide, video game web site etc.) in Spanish. This will include a high level of knowledge regarding native slang, phraseologies, and nuances in Spanish.”
Where it gets really interesting is that this is a minimum 6-month contract, starting between April and June this year. That would take us to, oh, around November, which is the now-traditional launch month for mainline Pokémon games. It may just be a coincidence, but it could also be a pointer towards a late 2018 release for the game.
Recently, we also had another possible sign of Nintendo planning a 2018 release for Pokémon on Switch in the form of this survey. It would be a big win for the hybrid console if it did get Pokémon this year, but for concrete news we’ll just have to wait a little longer.
