Just like last year, Pokémon Go is getting a Valentine’s Day event, with increased appearance rates for certain Pokémon and other extra rewards as well.
The event runs from 13th-15th February, though the exact time of conclusion has not yet been confirmed. Unlike last year, it will be just two loveable Pokémon that receive increased encounter rates; heart-shaped Water-type Luvdisc and the caring Normal-type Chansey will pop up more often than normal.
In addition, the Stardust currency you earn for catching these two species will be multiplied by 3, and Lure Modules – which normally attract Pokémon to your location for half an hour – will now last for 6 hours.
Being able to find Luvdisc may not seem too out of the ordinary, but the one big differentiator is that a shiny version of the Pokémon has been introduced. If you are unaware of what this means, a Shiny is an extremely rare version of a Pokémon that has a different colour scheme. Basically, they’re cool for showing off. For example, Ian Highton of Eurogamer caught one:

This Valentine’s Day event is definitely smaller in scale than last year, where Clefable, Porygon & more were included. Nevertheless, Pokémon-hunting with your loved one isn’t a bad way to spend the day!
