With our big screen revisit to Kanto set for 16th November 2018 with the release of Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Let’s Go! Eevee exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, The Pokémon Company have released a brand new trailer revisiting the nostalgic region, including our first look at returning favourite Misty and her Cerulean City Gym!
The new trailer also reconfirms the once miscommunicated communication functionalities, finally outright saying that the games will feature both local and online play. Customisation has also been reconfirmed for not just the player character, but their partner as well – including the option to give Pikachu and Eevee haircuts! Eevee has an added gender difference similar to Pikachu’s, with the pattern around the tail of a female Eevee resembling a heart.
As expected, the two versions will continue a franchise tradition of version exclusive Pokémon, with the currently confirmed variations showing a diversion from the original Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version. We are currently unsure how else the exclusive selections will diverge, but the currently confirmed species are:
Exclusive to Pikachu: Oddish, Sandshrew, Growlithe.
Exclusive to Eevee: Bellsprout, Vulpix, Meowth.
Previously, Sandshrew was exclusive to Pokémon Blue Version, requiring it to be traded to Pokémon Red Version. These species will be able to traded from other players, or transferred from Pokémon GO.
While we know these titles are inspired by Pokémon Yellow Version, it is still interesting to observe that in the new Kanto region map, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are pictured in the locations where they were obtained in that third version. Could this just be a nod, or a sign of further Yellow inspirations to come?
Will you be revisiting Kanto this November?
